Setting Plan Duration

Plan duration lets you define the contract length of a client plan. When you select a preset duration, ClarityCalc automatically calculates the plan's end date from its start date.

Choosing a duration

Open any plan and enter edit mode in the settings panel. You'll see a duration selector between the start date and end date fields with five options:

  • 6 Mo — 6 months from the start date
  • 1 Yr — 1 year from the start date
  • 3 Yr — 3 years from the start date
  • 5 Yr — 5 years from the start date
  • Custom — set any end date manually

When you select a preset and your plan has a start date, the end date is calculated and displayed automatically. If you need a non-standard contract length (such as 18 months or 2 years), select Custom and enter the end date directly.

How dates are calculated

Preset durations add the corresponding number of months to your start date. If the resulting month has fewer days than the start date (for example, a plan starting August 31 with a 6-month duration), the end date snaps to the last day of that month (February 28 or 29).

Changing the start date

If you change a plan's start date while a preset duration is selected, the end date automatically recalculates. You don't need to re-enter or re-select anything. The contract length stays the same, and the end date shifts accordingly.

Editing the end date manually

If you select Custom, you can set the end date to whatever you need. The only requirement is that the end date must be at least one month after the start date.

Active and renewal plans

Changing the duration on a plan that is already active or in renewal status requires confirmation. ClarityCalc will prompt you before applying the change, since updating the contract term on a live agreement affects when the plan is due for renewal.

Existing plans

Plans created before this feature was available will show "—" for duration. You can set a duration on these plans at any time by editing the settings panel. There's no requirement to do so, and they'll continue to work exactly as before.
